PRODUCT FAQs
Question:
Will it (Mer-Maids Canvas and Vinyl Cleaner) clean pine tree sap droppings on boat vinyl?
Ron
Answer:
Mer-Maids Canvas & Vinyl Cleaner is not the most effective tool for removing tree sap. It is an excellent cleaner for vinyl in general, deadly on mold and mildew.
It is great for cleaning off the solvent left behind after removing the tree sap.
For Tree sap most vinyl manufacturers recommend Turpentine. Good old home remedy, OLive oil or WD-40. WD-40 is a great cleaner for removing tree sap, scuff marks on the hull and paint. Hand sanitizer works well also. I use the Mermaid cleaner for all my boats canvas and it works great for all the other stuff.
Sunbrella suggests turpentine or acetone to get the sap off and then a cleaner like Mer-Maids to remove the sap solvent. Brian
